DT Know-how for the gearheads

Big bore is a volume problem first. A .458 bore steals the middle of the can, and the baffle geometry the industry runs was solved around 5.56 and .308 (high pressure, small charge, gas dumped fast to keep a rifle cycling). Push .45-70 through that, and most of the charge is downrange before the can has done any work. DT runs a medium flow internal, sitting between MOB and a fully restrictive design: gas stays in longer and works harder on the way out. On a lever or bolt gun, there’s nothing to cycle and no port timing to protect, so back pressure is a cost with no return, and on blowback .45 sub guns, the flow regime is set to keep cyclic rate and port gas where the designer intended.

We made DT a single additive part – no stack, no press fit, no weld joint in the gas path, nothing for lead to hide in. Ultrasonic it, or hit it with synthetic acids and standard lead cleaners (the things that destroy stacked and brazed cores).

The 45-70 payoff: a 500gr pill at 1,050 fps, no crack, and terminal energy nothing else subsonic touches, or factory 230gr ball to really go after it hard.
